Cynthia Haddad shows off her Knicks rally towel as she waits outside the Chase Bank on Coney and J |
It is amazing how quickly word spreads in the Yeshivah of Flatbush community. Before this week, the only pro game in town was
at the Barclays Center, home of the hometown Brooklyn Nets. But in a matter of
hours, the news was out that the New York Knicks were crossing territorial lines, looking
to swing fans to the Knicks’ side, by hosting one of their Basketball in the
Boroughs event stops just down the road from Flatbush’s two school
buildings. In a joint program with Chase
Bank, The New York Knicks held a promotional event on Monday evening at the
Chase Bank on the corner of Coney Island Avenue and Avenue J. By 4:30, the line to meet present Knicks
Iman Shumpert, Beno Udrih and Metta World Peace (formerly known as Ron Artest) as
well as Knick legend Bernard King was teeming with Flatbush students. Check out the photo gallery to see Flatbush
come out to meet the Knicks, and support the old franchise, which is surely
feeling the pressure of the upstart Nets encroaching on the traditional Knick
fan base. Next stop, Barclays Center on
Thursday for the first installment of Knicks-Nets 2013-14! Can you say,
“Brooklyn in the House?!”
