Yesterday, September 4, was orientation day at the Yeshivah of Flatbush Joel Braverman High School. At 11am students started coming in through the beautiful new lobby that was rebuilt over the summer vacation. At the door, the freshmen were welcomed by their Senior Mentors who volunteered to take on the responsibility of being a mentor to the freshmen. The mentors, as well as, the Senior Mentor coordinators have been working over the summer to welcome the 9th graders into our school with open arms. The freshmen then proceeded to their homerooms to get their metro cards, schedules, and also to talk with their Senior Mentors. After some ice breaker questions and a tour of the school the freshmen then went to the Beit Midrash where they saw a welcoming video made by Jack Mosseri (Junior) and heard some inspiring remarks. The speakers were Michelle Sabbagh (SGO President), Rabbi Harari, Rabbi Levy, Mrs. Sanders, Mrs. Bacon, Rabbi Beyda, and Mrs. Winkler. Everyone was inspired and gave the freshmen a warm welcome into our Flatbush family. The day was a huge success thanks to the Senior Mmentors, Jacob Nawlo, Emily Shrem, and of course Mrs. Winkler (Freshmen Grade Advisor). Looking forward to more events throughout the year. Welcome Freshmen to the Flatbush family! ~Emily Shrem (Senior)
